Present: Louis Falasca, Acting Chairman Sean McCarthy Brian Slavin Marion Reilly Absent: James Nazemetz Elvira Aloia Barbara Fina Also Present: James Margotta, Building Inspector Jeff McGovern, Attorney Acting Chairman Lou Falasca called the meeting to order at 8:30 PM. IN THE MATTER OF JOSEPH AND JOAN KESSLER. 7 BIRCH CLOSE. NORTH TARRYTOWN. NEW YORK Howard Rob, Architect for the Mr. & Mrs. Kessler, presented photos . He commented that the house is T-shaped and they want to add a 2 story addition; five rooms on the top with a porch on the lower level. The addition will be 8" white vinyl siding which will hardly be visible from the road. The rest of the house is 8" white clapboard. The windows will conform to the rest of the windows in the house. Brian Slavin moved to approve the plans as submitted, seconded by Marion Reilly and motion carried. IN THE MATTER OF 8. ENGEL AND P. VAN NIEL. 274 KELBOURNE AVENUE. NORTH TARRYTOWN. NEW YORK Architects for the applicants presented large photos regarding the propsoed one room addition above the existing porch. The windows will be comparable to the other windows in the house. The roof will be the same height as the existing roof. Brian Slavin questioned whether the nook in the corner of the house presented a problem as far as water, etc. The applicants commented that they have never had any water leakage even in the heaviest rain storm or even this past year with melting snow. Marion Reilly moved to accept the plans as submitted, seconded by Brian Slavin and motion carried. 1 �IN THE MATTER OF ANTONIO TARRYTOWN. NEW YORK 8IMAO, 46 GORDON AVENUE, NORTH Ron Turnquist, Architect for Mr. Simao, presented the floor plan, elevation and site plan photos of existing residence. He commented that it is a two story, two family dwelling and the reason they want to build a garage is to get the cars off the street. The plans call for a three- foot garage on the front side,with a twenty- foot side yard. It will be L shaped, wood frame, black siding which is the same as existing siding, roof will be asphalt shingle. There will be a new retaining wall constructed of blocks. Sean McCarthy wanted to know if the siding would be vinyl. Mr. Turnquist commented that everything that was exposed would be vinyl. Marion Reilly asked if there would be any windows on the side. Mr. Turnquist commented that the windows will be below grade. Discussion ensued on the size of the garage, landscaping , etc. Brian Slavin commented that the purpose of this Board is to consider structure, not parking although he knows there is a need for parking in that area. He was not in favor of building this garage. Marion Reilly moved, second by Sean McCarthy to approve the plans as submitted but that the flat roof have some sort of concrete pavers and not asphalt in order to give the roof a patio effect and that there be significant landscape screening along the northern property line. Motion carried 3-1 with Brian Slavin voting No. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Since there were not enough members present tonight that were at the July 27, 1994, the Board postponed approving those minutes until the September meeting. There being no further business, Sean McCarthy moved to adjourn the meeting, second by Marion Reilly and carried.
