Present: James Nazemetz, Chairman Sean McCarthy Louis Falasca Barbara Fina Elvira Aloia Robert Barstow Absent: Marion Reilly Also Present: Jeffrey B. McGovern, Attorney James T. Margotta, Building Inspector Chairman Nazemetz called the meeting to order at 8:05 PM. 1. Catherine Guarneri- Elm Street-Approval of a Garage Building Already Under Construction Sean McCarthy, the Architect for this garage, presented revised drawings of the garage with the changes. He commented that the changes are minor and the garage will be used for storage and two cars. He recused himself from the discussion. After discussion, Lou Falasca moved to approve the garage door height from approved drawings which show door height of 7*-0 and width of 12'-0, approve garage height of 9'-4" and approve roof pitch of 12" over 5'. Also, Sean McCarthy is to present drawings showing an architectural frieze board around the perimeter of the building and also the casing around the garage door for the Board's approval at the next meeting in July, motion was seconded by Barbara Fina and carried. Elvira Aloia voted no. 2. Eliot & Andrea Martone- 18 Farrington Ave. Approval of Additions to Residence Mr. Martone presented drawings and photos to the Board. He wants to bring the garage forward and add a screened-in porch on the back of the house. Discussion ensued. Lou Falasca moved, second by Sean McCarthy to deny approval until the Martone's architect can resubmit drawings with more detail and information such as a complete elevation sheet showing all materials, sizes and window details. These should be clearly labeled old and what is proposed. Motion carried. James Margotta suggested that the Board hold a special meeting on July 12th and have Mrs. Guarneri and Mr. Martone come back then instead of at the end of the month. 1 �3. Old Dutch Church-Broadway-Approval of a New Sign and Bulletin Board With Changeable Letters Reverend Vanderhart presented a drawing of proposed sign they wish to place on the hill by the Church. It would be redwood with green background and white letters. They also wish to have a bulletin board on the bottom of the sign with changeable letters. This would have a white background with black letters. The Board expressed concerns such as top and bottom signs should be the same colors, size, etc. Reverend Vanderhart explained that finances are a factor in the creation of the signs. After discussion, the Board denied his request and asked that he return on July 12th with more particulars. 4. Jose Ferreira-300 N. Washington St.-Request for Approval For a Front Porch Mr. Ferreira presented hand made drawings. The Board explained to Mr. Ferreira that he needed drawings from an architect showing the front and side of the house. He also needed pictures of the existing house as it is now and drawings of what it will look like later. The Board asked that Mr. Ferreira return on July 12th with this information. 5. Daniel Diaz-168 Cortlandt St. -Request Approval of Existing Sign Applicant failed to appear. 6. Car Tronics-Review of a Sign Placed on a Window at 283 N. Broadway-Third Request to Appear Applicant failed to appear. 7. Open Door Clinic- Beekman Ave.- Mr. Molinelli- Symbol Change Chair Jim Nazemetz made a motion, second by Lou Falasca that the Board reject Open Door's request for a change of the previously approved logo based on the fact that Mr. Molinelli needs to present a scale drawing showing size of letters and symbols, distance between letters and the symbol in relation to the awning, dimension on the awning and type-face proposed, carried. 2 �8. Mr. John Monaco-53 Fremont Rd. Informal Discussion on Pence Erected Without Approval Mr. Monaco commented that his contractor has not shown up tonight, therefore he does not have any pictures or drawings to show the Board. Chair Nazemetz commented that the Zoning Board had referred this to the ARB. Discussion ensued on the six-foot fence which has been already erected. Ms. Fina commented that many people in the area are upset with the size of the fence; Mr. Monaco commented that although that is true, there are also some that do not object. The Chair asked that the Board be polled on the size of the fence that they want to see erected. Sean McCarthy voted for a four foot high fence with plantings, Elvira Aloia, Barbara Fina, Lou Falasca and Chair Jim Nazemetz voted for a three foot high fence maximum. Robert Barstow commented that he would have to abstain since he was new to the Board and has not seen the fence. There being no further business, Jim Nazemetz moved to adjourn the meeting, second by Lou Falasca and carried.
