Hahn Engineering, P.C. who determined the bid of $716,206 to be acceptable and has recommended its approval; and WHEREAS, the New York State Department of Transportation, the granting agency for this project, concurs with the recommendation to award. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Trustees herein accepts the bid of CNB Contracting Corp. at a total amount of $716,206. Their bid is lower than the Engineer's Estimate of $922,930 and approximately $72,000 less than the next bidder Paladino Concrete Creations. We have discussed the bid with the CNB Contracting and they are confident they can complete the work for the bid price according to the schedule. After additional consideration and review of these bids, we have found our original engineer's estimate to be significantly higher than the bids provided for this work at this time asfiveof the seven bidders were less than our estimate. The reason for this decrease in costs could be based on industry changes and lack of similar projects to bid, causing contractors to bid projects very competitively in this area. The average of the three low bidders is $781,270. In addition, CNB is an assumed name to a parent company titled WJL Equities. The majority of tlleir references werefromwork conducted by WJL Equities which received adequate references for conducting similar work in New York City, Connecticut and Putnam County.
