Margotta Building Inspector 28 Beekman Avenue North Tarrytown, New York 10562 10591 Dear Mr. Margotta: In compliance with the Architectural Review Board's decision for us to replace the existing 62 linear feet wooden fence on our property, at 286 North Washington Street, we have obtained an estimate for the professional installation of a new fence. We find the appraised amount of $1450.00 totally unfeasable and a true financial hardship. The decision to replace a sturdy and well-built structure, for the sake of a height that can be reduced in other ways, is further adding to the emotional and financial stress we have had to endure. For years, we have been harassed by Mr. McLean regarding the position of the fence. We have had to contract Mr. Charles Riley twice, (1990 and October 1995) to re-survey and re-stake our property, at our expense, to prove to Mr. McLean that the fence is on our side of the property line. With his accusations, he has attempted to coerce us into taking down the entire fence, so he can have open access to drive freely through our driveway with his plumbing business trucks, winter business plow, and other vehicles. You will recall, Mr. McLean was very specific and stated numerous times during the meeting of October 25, "95, "this fence is a nuisance" to him. We would like to invite the members of the Architectural Review Board to visit the site, and determine for themselves the condition of the wooden fence. We are more than willing to reduce its height to code. We trust that the BOard will review this case with a fair and open mind.
