Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Sleepy Hollow
Confirming Mayor's Appointment
Whereas, maintaining an adequate staffing level is essential to the efficient operation
of the Sleepy Hollow Police Department; and
Whereas, There is currently a vacancy in the Police Department; and
Whereas, the Police Department canvassed candidates for the position of police
officer; and
Whereas, Steven E. Bencosme, scored in the top three of the Civil Service eligible list
#69-548 and has satisfactorily completed all requirements of the Sleepy Hollow Police
Department's background screening policy; and
Whereas, Police Chief Bueti recommends that Steven Bencosme be appointed to fill
the vacant police officer position;
Now, therefore be it resolved, that the Board of Trustees hereby confirms the
Mayor's appointment of Steven Bencosme of Sleepy Hollow, NY to the position of Police
Officer, Uncertified, at the annual starting salary of $51,710.00 said appointment to
become effective Wednesday, July 25, 2018 and subject to the approval of the
Westchester County Department of Civil Service Rules and a probationary period of 12
to 52 weeks.
