PRESENT: James Nazemetz, Chairman Sean McCarthy Rosaria Piomelli Louis Falasca ABSENT: Elvira Aloia Barbara Fina Robert Barstow ALSO PRESENT: Janet Gandolfo, Attorney James Margotta, Building INspector Chairman Nazemetz called the meeting to order at 8:00 P.M. 1. Discussion for New Logos for Village. Mr. Jim Laird presented drawings and carved wooden signs and designated sites for the placement of the new signs. Mr. Laird stated that the new signs would replace the signs at the entrances to the Village. He outlined coloring, size of letters and type of construction, and stated that the signs would be approximately sixteen feet in height. Discussion followed regarding the height of the new signs and the Board instructed Mr. Laird to present a "mock-up" at the next meeting. 2. Jare & Derek Kolleeny, 32 Palmer Avenue-Fence. Mr. Kolleeny presented drawings and stated that be installed on the east side of the house and would be 4 height and would be a chain link fence, which would match south and west side of the property. He stated that this rear yard and would be barely visible from the front. the fence would to 5 feet in the fence on the wotjflenclose the Mr. Kolleeny presented affidavit of service of mailings to the Clerk. Mr. Falasca moved, seconded by Mr. McCarthy that the meeting be opened for public comments. Carried. There being no public comments, Mr. Nazemetz moved, seconded by Mr. McCarthy to close the meeting for public comments. Carried. After discussion, Mr. Falasca moved, seconded by Mr. McCarthy to approve the application as presented which would be five feet in height, with the option to erect a four foot fence if they so desire. Carried. �-23. Ron Turnquist, Beekman Avenue-Awning and Facade Program. Postponed until the September meeting. 4. Sabatino Pagano, 35 Hudson Terrace-Fence. Mr. Pagano presented plans for a vertical fence to be installed on posts which would meet with the existing fence at the rear of the property. Mr. Pagano stated that the fence would be approximately four feet to three feet due to the terrain of the property. He stated the fence would be a wooden fence and would be stained. Mr. Pagano presented affidavits of service of mailings to the Qlterk. Mr. Falasca moved, seconded by Mr. Nazemetz that the meeting be opened for public comments. Carried. Mr. Johann Metternick owner of property at 20 Hudson Terrace which adjoins the Pagano property stated that the erection of the fence would create a private nuisance as his tenants would have difficulty getting into their apartment door due to the closeness of the fence to the property line. M. Metternick stated that the houses were built in the 1920s and there has never been a fence there. Discussion followed regarding the fence and if it blocked someone's entrance to their apartment. Tracy Koch, tenant in Mr. Metternick's house stated it would be difficult to enter her apartment with packages if the fence were erected so near to the entrance of her apartment. Mr. Falasca stated he felt the problem was something the two property owner's had to resolve between themselves and that the Board could only act to approve or disapprove the erection of the fence. There being no further discussion Mr. McCarthy moved, seconded by Mr. Falasca to close the meeting for public comments. Carried. After discussion Ms. Piomelli moved, seconded by Mr. Falasca to approve the erection of a fence approximately three feet nine inches in height and to be approximately three feet in height towards the front of the side property line, and said fencing should match the existing fencing as to height and color. Carried. 5. Mr. & Mrs. Sean Dugan, 9 Birch Close-Addition. Applicant present plans and pictures of a one story addition at 9 Birch Close and stated that the Sleepy Hollow Manor Improvement Assoc, had approved the plans and outlined type of construction. Ms. Piomelli moved, seconded by Mr. Nazemetz that the meeting be opened for public comments. Carried. There being no public comments, Mr. Nazemetz moved, seconded by Ms. Piomelli to close the meeting for public comments. Carried. �-3Discussion followed regarding type of construction, windows and color of same. Mr. Falasca moved, seconded by Mr. McCarthy that Phase I of the project be approved as submitted and that the applicant reappear before the Board for approval of Phase II. Carried. 5. Informal Meeting re: New Facade for the Post Office. Architect's Ken Irving, and Ed Filapella appeared before the Board and presented plans and specifications for the renovation of the local post office. Also appearing was Leonard Galgano, Postmaster for the Post Office. Mr. Irving outlined the project and stated that the plans meet all Village codes and ordinances. Discussion followed regarding entrances to post office, color of paint for outside of building, type of signs, new windows to be inst^ led and type of construction inside building. Mr. Falasca moved, seconded Mr. McCarthy that the plans be approved as submitted with the following changes: Color of front to be medium bronze, and that the area behind the mullion be clackened as discussed. Carried. MINUTES Mr. McCarthy moved, seconded by Ms. Piomelli to postpone approval of the minutes of July 23rd, 1997 when other members would be present. Carried. Mr. Falasca abstained. There being no further business to come before the Board Mr. McCarthy moved, seconded by Mr. Falasca that the same be duly adjourned. Carried.
