Mayor Wray called the work session to order at 7:00 p.m.
ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING: Prior to the work session, the Village Board conducted its
annual organizational meeting. Resolutions and appointments are attached.
POWER YOUR WAY PRESENTATION: Dan Welsh of Sustainable Westchester addressed the
Board. Mr. Welsh encouraged the Board to continue participating in the Community Choice
Aggregation Program. The program contract is up for renewal. Mr. Welsh provided the Board
with a summary of the program benefits. The Board members had several questions and will
consider this initiative at next week's Board meeting.
BEEKMAN AVENUE SPEED HUMPS: Trustee Leavy started the discussion regarding speed
humps on lower Beekman Avenue. Police Chief, Bueti joined the discussion. Business owners
in the area are complaining that vehicles are speeding as they head westward. There is a feeling
that raised crosswalks would make the situation safer for pedestrians. Chief Bueti will conduct
an internal traffic study to determine the speed and volume of vehicles traveling on lower
Beekman Avenue. This information will be used to come up with the most effective solution.
FIRE PITS: Mayor Wray started the discussion on fire pits. At the last Board meeting, a
resident asked the Board to consider setting a policy restricting the use of fire pits. The' resident
complained that the smoke coming from a neighbor's fire pit is having an impact on her quality
of life. She is also concerned that it poses a safety hazard due to its proximity to her house. The
State code on open fires was previously distributed to the Board. Some Board members felt that
the code is already restrictive and that enforcement is needed. Discussion ensued
