PRESENT: James Nazemetz, Chairman Sean McCarthy Rcoert Barstow Tnomas Caposseia Elvira Alois Barbara Fina I O U I S Falasca ALSO PRESENT: udward latmers, Attorney James Margotta, Building Inspector Cnairman Nazemetz called the meeting to order at 8 P .M. 1. PHILIPSE MANOR BEACH CLUB-REPLACBMENT OF FtNChl. Mr. Lee Kennedy, Architect and Memoer of tne Beacn Club presented Site Plan for the Board to review. Mr. Kennedy stated it was the intention of tne Club to remove the present deteriorated fence and replace it witn a six ana a half nign fence. The fence exceeds the five foot'hign permitted fence and they will be appearing before the Zoning Board. Mr. Kenneqy atated tnat the d u o would ne opening on May 30th and they would like to have the new fencing installed before then. M T . Kennedy stated that the new fence would De a placet type with partial chain link, steel posts would be encased in cement and all signs would be replaced with new ones. He stated that tne marina has approximately 45 boats now and they expect approximately 15-zO "smaller boats this season. The ciub would like a higher fence for security purposes and to deter vandalism. Mr. Nazemetz moved, seconded by Mr. Falasca to open the meeting for public comments. Carried. ihere being no public comments, Mr. McCarthy moved, seconded by M S . Aloia to close the meeting for public comments. Carried. Mr. Lammers stated that the application for a six foot high fence was nefore the Zoning Board and tne AKB should not discuss the application until it is approved by the Zoning Board. M T . Margotta stated that the maximum height in an Industrial Area is six feet in height. Discussion followed regarding height of present fence (6*s tt) and height of proposed fence, type ot fencing to be erected and type or signs. �-2M S . fine moved, seconded by Mr. Capossela to approve the installation of a fence no higher tnan six and a half feet, type or fencing as requested in application, and if approved by the zoning Hoard. Mr. McKelden Smith ana Carol Hagglund, representing Historic Hudson Valley presented plans and outlined the project. Mr. Smith stated that tne present sign was faoed and the restoration would like to replace it. Mr. Q m t h stated that the proposed sign would be approximately seventeen teet high and fourteen feet wide and would be panels which would be changeable and would include a twenty-eight foot high center pole which would be for the American flag. Mr. McCarthy moved, seconded by Mr. Falasca to open the meeting for public comments. Carried. •ihere being no public comments, Mr. McCartny moved, seconded by Mr. Falasca to close tne meeting tor public comments, carried. Discussion followed with memDers stating they felt the sign was too wide, too high and felt that it should be more histoEic in nature. M T . ,£mith stated that they kept the sign simple so that people driving by could read it. chairman Nazemetz stated he would prefer that they submit a "mockup" in order for the Board to get a better idea how the proposed sign tdbuld look. Mr. smith stated that they would look at another type of sign. Mr. Falasca moved, to table boe application until the next meeting, ihere being no second the motion did not carry. Chairman Nazemetz stated it was the overall opinion of the members that the concept was good but the sign was too large for the area. After discussion, Mr. McCarthy moved, seconded by Ms. Aloia to continue the matter at the meeting to oe heli on June 28th, 2u00. CarEied. 3. JULIE CESARE BEYL, 22 FREMONT RQAD-APPROVEL CF AUDITION. Arcnitect presented Site Plan and pictures of proposed second floor addition which would be a bedroom over existing one story projection, they would raise the height of the entry way and addition would match the rest or the house. Architect presented proof of arfidavit of mailings to Clerk. �-JMr. McCarthy moved, seconaed by Ms. Fina to open the meeting for public comments. Carried. There being no public comments, Mr. Nazemetz moved, seconded by Mr. McCarthy to close the meeting for public comments. Carried. Discussion followed regarding of placement of window and Architect agreed to suggestion to move window in new addition, width and type of siding. Mr. Barstow moved, seconaed by Mr. Falasca to approve the plans as submitted with the architect to move the window on the addition as suggested by the Board. Carried. M T . Nazemetz informed the Architect that a revised drawing would have to be submitted prior to the issuance of a builaing permit. 4. KARL DIBBLE, 3l5 NORTH BROADWAY-APPROVAL OF DECK, SKYLIGHTS, NEW FENCE AND VARIOUS RENOVATIONS. Mr. Dibble outlined the project and stated it was his intention to make the house into two families, he had completed the installation of four skylights, would like to install a deck at the rear of the house and install a five foot chain link tence at the rear and sides of the property. He stated he would like a higher fence so that neighbors would not see his landscaping equipment. Mr. Larimers stated he would have to go to the Zoning Board £or permission to install a higher fence. Mr. Dibble stated it was his intention to make a circular driveway in the front of his property. Mr. Nazemetz stated he would nave to get permission from tne State as it abuts a state highway. Mr. Nazemetz movea, seconded by Mr. Barstow to open the meeting for public comments. Carried. There being no public comments Mr. Falasca moved, seconded by Mr. Nazemetz to close the meeting for public cdflments. Carried. After discussion, Ms. Fina moved, seconded by Mr. Barstow to approve those items requested in the application regarding skylights, new deck and various renovations already completed and that Mr. Dibble apply to the Zoning Board regarding the height of tne fence. Carried. 5. UNIQUE AUTO BODY, 95 COLLEGE AVENUE-APPROVAL OF STAIK ADDITION AND EXTERIOR ALTERATIONS. M T . McCarthy excused himself from participating in this application as he is the Architect for the project. �_4Mr. McCarthy presented proof or mailings to Clerk. Mr. McCarthy stated that the building in question is the old Donzeila Garage at the corner ot Valley Street ana College Avenue. He stated tnat the new owner would liJce to make a stairway to the second floor where there is a small office. He stated at the present time there is a steep ramp and stated that a new roof would be installed, new lighting and the whole building would be repainted after the construction is completed. Mr. Nazemetz moved, seconded by Mr. Barstow to open the meeting tor public ccnments. Carried. There being no comments Mr. Barstow moved, seconded by Ms. Fina to close the meeting for public comments, carried. Discussion followed regarding type of construction, type of stairway and type ot awning to be installed. Mr. Barstow moved, seconded by Mr. Faiasca to approve the plans as submitted. Carried. MINUTES Mr. Nazemetz moved, seconded by Ms. Fina to approve the minutes of the meeting held on April ^6th, 2000 as submitted. Carried. Mr. Nazemetz stated that the next meeting ofuthe Board would be held on June 2ath, 20U0. AEter discussion, it was agreed that no meeting would be held in August due to members being on vacation. There being no further business to come before the Board, Mr. Nazemetz moved, seconded by Mr. McCarthy that the same be duly adjourned.
