Present: Gerald B. Gould, Chairman William C. Schmidt John K. Mull on David Page, Jr. John J. Lofaro, Secretary Abraham N. Saflofsky, Corporation Counsel Mr. Gould called the meeting to order at 8:15 P.M. The minutes of the regular meeting of April 21st, 1932, were read and approved. The Building Inspector's report hearing date April 29th, 1932 was read and placed on:file. Letters of complaint from Victoria Cushman, John Iurato, Joseph Kuzvar, P. M. Plorer, Mrs. A. Canter, and Louis R. Bartolizzi and petition of Lucy Mae London, Mary S. Mann, John Zinka, Andrew Lacskey and Pietro Badalamente, all of which were dated May 18th, 1932, were read. Mr. Raymond D. MacMahon, Attorney for the above named complainants, appeared before the Board and stated that the live poultry market at 102 Cortlandt Street is a public health menace for the reason that of it's very nature, it is disturbing at night, malodorous, unsightly and a haven for rats, mice and flies and that the block in which the market is located is a very crowded one. He said that if chicken markets are a necessity, then some sequestered locality should be chosen. On motion of Mr. Page and duly seconded by Mr. Mullon, it was resolved that a public hearing be held on Tuesday, May 31st, 1932, at 8 o'clock (Daylfcght Savings Time) and that the usual notices be mailed to the owner of the premises and to the owners of the live poultry market. The Secretary was also instructed to obtain the Building Inspector's �\v <:','»« �report of the said premises on which the alleged violation exists. An informal discussion regarding "Red Gables" was held. Mr. Sadofsky informed the Board that no cause of action now exists in favor of the Village eithertoyway of Injunction or action on a Penalty toy reason of the fact that the said actions are barred by the terms of the Statute of Limitations. Mr. Gould suggested to Mr. Sadofsky that he submit to the Board a written memorandum or opinion to that effect so that the Board may act on same and close the case on the record.
