MINUTES OF THE ORGANIZATION MEETING OF THE
ZONING COMMISSION APPOINTED BY THE BOARD
OF TRUSTEES
of the
VILLAGE OF NORTH TARRYTOWN.

NEW YORK.

The organization meeting of the Zoning Commission
appointed by the Board of Trustees of the VILLAGE OF NORTH
TARRYTOWN, NEW YORK, was held in the Board of Trustees' Room
in the Corporation Building in the Village of North Tarrytown,
New York, on May 14, 1945, at 8:30 P.M.
There were present the following Zoning Commissioners:

William C. Schmidt
Delancey I. Grimball
David Page
David Levy
T. N. Lawler
Thomas Costello

The following Commissioners were absent:
Mr. Wallace H. Martin
Mr. F. X. Quain
Mr. Winfield L. Morse called the meeting to order and
reported to the meeting that the Clerk to the Board of Trustees
of the Village of North Tarrytown had furnished him with a list
of the Zoning Commissioners appointed by the Board of Trustees
at their meeting held on May 7, 1945, and that he had requested
the Zoning Commissioners to meet on this date for the purpose
of organizing the Commission.
Mr. Morse stated that the first business to come before
the meeting was the election of a Chairman and of a Secretary.

Mr. Schmidt nominated Mr. Morse as Chairman, which
nomination was seconded by Mr. Lawler.

• There being no f u r t h e r

nominations Mr. Morse c a l l e d for a vote and declared Mr. Winfield
L. Morse t o be unanimously e l e c t e d Chairman of the Zoning
Commission.
Mr. Morse then assumed the Chair and declared t h a t
the next business before the meeting was the e l e c t i o n of a
Secretary of the Zoning Commission.
Mr. Grimball nominated Mr. Quain as S e c r e t a r y , which
nomination was seconded by Mr. Page.

There being no f u r t h e r

nominations the Chairman c a l l e d for a vote and declared Mr. Quain
unanimously elected Secretary of t h e Zoning Commission.
In the absence of Mr. Quain the Chairman appointed
Mr. Lawler as Temporary Secretary to keep t h e minutes of t h i s
meeting.
A discussion then ensued between t h e Zoning Comm i s s i o n e r s with regard t o the o r g a n i z a t i o n of t h e work of t h e
Commission and the objectives sought t o be obtained.
Upon motion by Miv Schmidt, seconded by Mr. Lawler,
i t was unanimously

RESOLVED, that the Chairman be instructed to make
request for such map to the Mayor or
the Board of Trustees of 1he Village of
North Tarrytown*
The chairman distributed copies of the present
zoning ordinance of the Village of North Tarrytown to each member
and requested each member of the Zoning Commission to examine
carefully the present zoning ordinance so that the same might
be analyzed and discussed at the next meeting of the Zoning
Commission.
The Chairman then requested Mr.Schmidt to examine
the minutes of the Zoning Board of Appeals of the Village of
North Tarrytown and to make a digest of changes deemed^ necessary
in the present zoning ordinance of the Village of North Tarrytown
as disclosed by the minutes of the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Mr. Page suggested that each Zoning Commissioner
obtain copies of the fire, building and sanitary codes of the
Village of North Tarry town, and that these be studied in connection with the zoning ordinance.
Upon motion by.Mr. Griiaball, seconded by Mr.Schmidt,
it was

Chairman.
