Present Philip E. Zegarelli, Mayor James J. Timmings Janet Gandolfo Peter Soriano Thomas J. Cavalieri Mario DiFeli ce Margaret While, Trustees Mayor Zegarelli called the meeting to order at 8:10 P.M. and read the public notice of hearing which had appeared in the local newspaper. The proposed budget includes proposed uses of Federal funds. Mayor Zegarelli than asked if there was anyone present who wished to address the Board. Police Chief Spota outlined the areas and needs of the North Tarrytown police force. They are: 1. Personal services - a need formore officers on the force. There is a great need for a youth officer in the Village, which is also recommended by the State. The State has recommended an extra eight men plus four foot patrol officers. The State mentioned that due to heavy traffic volume of General Motors employees at certain times, part-time civilians could be hired to help ease the traffic flows at these hours. 2. Police vehicles - new cars are needed both to increase the present fleet plus replacing some of theblder cars. Chief Spota specifically asked that two new patrol cars be purchased, 3. a. Portable 2-way radios. Four are presently available. Chief Spota said more are needed, while officers are on field duty, and one for himself so he can join in with other officers when needed. b. Riot helmets - two are requested. 4. A recording unit. 5. a. Cell block space - more room is needed for proper care of people, without overcrowding. b. Additional space for police activity is needed. Space for an entrance to give privacy to those arrested, and a juvenile area away from other cell areas; space so that the room containing records does not have to be used for interrogation. �6. A full time clerk-i vpist to holp with the paperwork so that the officers and detectives will have more time to carry out their jobs. Chief Spot a closed by thanking the Board and acknowledging thei; past support. Mayor Zegarelli then asked if anyone else present wished to address the Board. Mr. Thomas Pilkington, an employee of General Motors, also askp for the Board's help to get part-time traffic officers for key spots in the village to alleviate the flow of traffic when there are shift changes. There being no further comments at the hearing, Mayor Zegarelli thanked all who came. A motion to end the hearing was made by Trust! DiFelice and seconded by Trustee White and unanimously passed at 8:45 P.M. A short, private session was held by the Board members to set dates for further working sessions needed to complete the budget. Mayor Zegarelli dismissed the meeting at 8:55 P.M.
