-ir>;r Mayor Zegarelli called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. and stated
that the purpose of the meeting was to reinstate Glenn Amesbury as Chief
Engineer of the North Tarrytown Volunteer Fire Department.
Mayor Zegarelli read a letter dated July 12th, 1983 from the
Fire Council in which they stated that Chief Amesbury was reinstated as
Chief of the Fire Department effective immediately, and that his car #2311
and all equipment was returned to him.
Trustee Lofaro moved, seconded by Trustee Timmings that the
action of the Fire Council, in reinstating Chief Engineer Glenn
Amesbury be confirmed effective immediately.
Trustee Buonanno stated that he understood the Fire Council
had suspended Chief Amesbury as Chief and the Chief had turned over
the keys to the car, did not answer calls and had not been in the firehouse since the Council had suspended him. He was unsure why the Board
of Trustees had to act on the suspension and then again on the reinstatement.
Mayor Zegarelli stated that Chief Amesbury had acted on advice
of Counsel in returning keys and equipment, in order not to create
additional problems. He also stated that Chief Amesbury had been suspended
only as Chief of the Department and not as a member of the Fire Department.
He stated that the various companies had met on the matter last week and
unanimously had voted to lift the suspension and had so directed the Fire
Council.
After a discussion Mayor Zegarelli polled the Board as follows:
