Present: Mayor Frank Rey Sean Treacy Michael Hyland James Nazemetz John T. Hayes, Jr. Trustees Also Present: William T. Regan, Village Administrator Sanjay Shah, Deputy Treasurer Absent: Morris Alter James J. Timmings, III Trustees After reading the public hearing notice which was held on August 6, William Regan commented that this meeting was a continuation of the discussion by the Board after the hearing was closed. Mayor Rey commented that since last week a third eligible employee has expressed interest in the program. Sanjay Shah has put together cost figures and calculations for the Board to review. Discussion ensued. Trustee Hy-land commented that since the third person has expressed interest, two positions can be filled and only one position should be eliminated. If needed, part-timers can be hired. Trustee Nazemetz questioned how the figures on the chart will effect the Village. The Administrator stated that the yearly estimated retirement cost of $15,186.71 will not affect the Village until November 1992 which is in the next fiscal year. This is the first of five installments. The elimination of the one position will cover most of it. The question of payout of accumulated sick time arose again. The Administrator stated that this must be paid to them whenever they retire and the longer they stay, the more they will accumulate. Trustee Treacy commented that since two men were previously doing the same work that three men are doing now, he felt that eliminating one position would not have a great effect on the work load. Sanjay Shah stated that we must reassure the State that there will be no significant cuts in services if we eliminate a position. This is the first time this plan has been offered to Villages and Towns and would be a good time to eliminate one position through attrition without any problem with the Union. 1 �1 ^ \ More discussion ensued on the payout of accumulated sick time as to whether it should continue to be part of the retirement package. Trustee Treacy commented that it should be discussed during negotiations with the unions. Trustee Treacy moved to adopt a Local Law electing a retirement incentive program as authorized by Chapter 178, Laws of 1991, for the eligible employees of the Village of North Tarrytown,seconded by Trustee Hyland and motion carried unanimously. There being no further business, Trustee Nazemetz moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Trustee Hyland and motion carried. Respectfully submitted, William T.
