                  <text>A Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Sleepy Hollow was held
on Monday, July 6,1998 at 7:00 PM in Village Hall, 28 Beekman Avenue, Sleepy
Hollow, New York.

Janet Gandolfo, Village Attorney

Trustee Alter moved, seconded by Trustee Munroe to open the meeting and carried.
Mayor Treacy called the meeting to order with a pledge to the flag. He asked that
everyone remain standing for a moment of silence for Buck McCarthy who passed
away recently.
Discussion ensued on the purchase of a new street sweeper for the Public Works
Department. The possibility of leasing a sweeper instead of buying one was
discussed but the Treasurer explained that if we lease it, we must start paying for it
now, but if we purchase a new one, we will borrow the money and will not start
paying until next year's budget.
Trustee Collins moved, seconded by Trustee Alter that the Board of Trustees
authorizes the Treasurer to go out to bid on the purchase of a new street sweeper,
motion carried 6-0.
Mayor Treacy reported that we have a CDBG grant for $228,000. for sidewalks on
Beekman Avenue from Teresa Street to the railroad bridge and the village has
found matching funds from an unexpected source to fund engineering services for
the project.
After discussion, Trustee Alter moved, seconded by Trustee Munroe to go forward
with requests for engineering services, motion carried 6-0.
Mayor Treacy explained that there is a resolution on the agenda tonight to
authorize the Court Clerk to offer a reduction infinesto those who owe more than
$500. The Court Clerk will send out a letter and offer them a chance to pay up
withoutfilinga judgement against them. Brief discussion ensued.

Discussion ensued on the senior van which needs to be replaced. Sanjay Shah
commented that we have looked into the possibility of purchasing a used twelve
passenger bus from Briarcliff which is nine years old. In the meantime, the school
district is willing to let us borrow one of their buses for the summer.
Mayor Treacy reported that the Mt. Pleasant IDA will meet on July 9,1998 at 5PM.
David Perlmutter, a resident of Sleepy Hollow, is a new member on the IDA board.
Approval of Warrants
Trustee Alter moved, seconded by Trustee Stever to approve the warrant of the
General Fund for $202,126.83 and authorize the Treasurer to pay the bills; motion
carried 6-0; Trustee Alter moved, seconded by Trustee Collins to approve the
warrant of the Water and Sewer fund for a total of $35,757.46 and authorize the
Treasurer to pay the bills, motion carried 6-0; Trustee Alter moved, seconded by
Trustee Munroe to approve the warrant of the Capital fund for a total of $38,178.
and authorize the Treasurer to pay the bills, motion carried 6-0.
There being no further business, Trustee Alter moved, seconded by Trustee Munroe
to move into executive session to discuss a personnel item, motion carried.
Executive Session
Interview took place with one of the Police Officer candidates.
There being no further business, meeting was adjourned.
