Present: Frank Arvan, Chairperson Lou Falasca Robert Barstow Elena Nalunis Annegret Rice Also present: John Hughes, Village Attorney Jim Margotta, Building Inspector In the matter of Glenn Weeks. 174 Webber Avanm. North Tarrvtown. New yorE. Mr. Weeks plans to renovate the second story of his home and presented his plans to the Board for approval of the design. After a very short discussion, a motion to approve the plans was made by Lou Falasca, seconded by Elena Malunis. Motion was passed unamiously. In the matter of Jim Tarrvtown. New York. Nazemetz, 14 3 Hunter Avenue. North Mr. Nazemetz plans to enlarge the second floor of his home by raising the dormers. Bob Barstow asked if the second floor was visible to the street, and applicant indicated it would be more so in the winter than in summer. Mr. Barstow also commented that drawings presented to the Board should have the name of the person or firm doing the drawings. Ms. Malunis agreed. At this point, a discussion took place among the board as to what procedures should be followed. Mr. Falasca suggested that plans should be received by the ARB prior to meetings for review and the applicant should come before the ARB as the first step before appearing before any other boards such as the Planning or Zoning Board. Mr. Barstow suggested that someone from the ARB should also look at the structure when it is completed and before the CO is issued. After the discussion, Mr. Nazemetz was asked to sign the drawings. A motion to approve the drawings for design as submitted was made by Mr. Barstow, seconded by Ms. Rice. Motion was passed unamiously. in the matter of James D'Orio. T a r m p w P i New Yorfr, 71 Chestnut Street. North A preliminary hearing was held with regard to the proposed design of a 10 unit condominium to be built on Chestnut Street. 1 �Mr. D'Orio presented a colored sketch of the design and indicated that site approval for the project had been given by the Planning Board last year. He planned to start building after the approval was granted, but was asked to wait to appear before the Architectual Review Board. The drawings indicated a three story, light stucco colored structure with staircases leading up to individual doorways and canopies over each door. The drawings also showed a horizontal wood border that went the length of the building and a mansard roof. A lengthy discussion ensued regarding the use of the mansard roof. It was suggested that a pitched or gabled roof with dormers be used in a colonial design. It was also suggested that a staggered roof line be used. Because of zoning requirements, certain window styles could not be used, however, it was also suggested to Mr. D'Orio that archways could be used in the doorways. Mr. D'Orio reiterated that approval already had been given for the project and that he has waited patiently to start construction, however, if the Board was unhappy with the design, he would be opened to suggestions. In addition to previous ideas, the Board suggested that a smaller complex be built. Mr. Barstow and Mr. Arvan both prepared brief sketches for Mr. D'Orio with ideas that they thought the Board would go along with. Mr. D'Orio was asked to come before the Board again with revisions of his original design. Mr. Arvan announced that the next meeting of the ARB would be August 23, at 7:30 PM. A brief meeting was held to discuss the agenda for the ARB hearing.
